BANDERA has partecipated to the 2nd forum on rigid and foamed thermoformed packaging held at Malpensa’s Sheraton Hotel, on the 23th and 24th of November. Most recent key points regarding the technological development of rigid and foamed thermoformed packaging production have been showed during the event.

The technology is developed for the production of semi-foamed foil, whose features are similar to conventional foil, with a few main differences such as lower weight and final application on thermoplastic materials such as PET and PP which are widely used for industrial and food packaging.

New PET extrusion line supplied to Flight Platics

Bandera is proud to announce that the company named FLIGHT PLASTICS UK (long time British customer) will receive a second foil extrusion line after the one supplied in 2009.

Flight Plastics (UK) Ltd are a joint venture company who are part of Flight Group Ltd with operations in New Zealand and Australia.

Flight UK was established in 1989 and extrudes A-PET, R-PET, HIPS and Polypropylene for the thermoforming / packaging market.

Flight took delivery of their first Twin Screw extruder for producing R-PET sheet in 2009.

Following the success of this investment Flight are taking delivery of another twin screw R-PET line from Bandera in December. This will be capable of producing 150µm – 1,5mm.

This new line will be placed in Flight's new manufacturing facility in Romsey Hampshire.

In the eyes of Bandera this new supply represents a considerable fact to be proud, as it furtherly shows two key points such as the “Customer Oriented” philosophy and the “Customer Loyalty” building towards the leader in the sheet extrusion market.

The line will be mainly used to manufacture foil for the thermoforming of PET food packages (rigid or expanded products); The line’s versatility allows to process PP and PS foils.

The line’s throughput varies from 1300Kg/h with PET, to 800Kg/h with PP and 900Kg/h with PS.

The actual extrusion die and downstream allows to reach the maximum foil width of 1450 mm while the plant’s semi-automatic cantilever winding system allows us to reach bobbins with a maximum diameter of 1000 mm.

After 12 years of experience in the production of foil extrusion plants, Bandera is  the only company who can offer such a wide range of thickness concerning the materials used for the production of food packaging (PET: 120µm÷1500µm, PP: 250µm÷2000µm, PS: 150µm÷2000µm, PLA: 180µm÷800µm) in addition to a safe, easy to use and highly efficient polyolefinic film lamination process.

Profile of Company

Bandera has been operating since 1947 producing extrusion lines for plastic materials, with particular attention to the area of flat die plants for thermoplastic foil and sheets.
Bandera is recognized as a world leader in the production of extrusion equipment for pipes and thermoplastic films.
The factory in Busto Arsizio (VA), with a constant technological research verified with experimental tests on pilot plants, allows to continually improve the quality, ease of use and reliability of Bandera extrusion plants.
